Paul McGinley and Jose Maria Olazabal can both breathe a sigh of relief as they have both automatically qualified for the Ryder Cup Team. None of the other potential qualifiers could manage to do what was required to displace McGinley and Olazabal at the BMW Open.
Woosnam has also announced his two captains wildcard picks they are unsurprisingly Darren Clarke and Lee Westwood.
So the final lineup of the European Ryder Cup Team is as follows:
Paul Casey, Darren Clarke, Luke Donald, Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington, David Howell, Robert Karlsson, Paul McGinley, Colin Montgomerie, Jose Maria Olazabal, Henrik Stenson and Lee Westwood

personally i wouldnt have given clarke or westwood a wildcard – states of mind aside, they are further down the rankings than a ryder cup player should be
Well Thoms Bjorn obviously agrees with you and has let rip in the media. He seems particularly annoyed that Woosnam didn’t take the time to discuss it. It does seem to me that Broadhust has far more to gripe about…
yeah and edfors too maybe – woosie just doesn’t strike me as the sort of captain that has much presence … still think we’ll win though 🙂
Bjorn was fined today for his comments. I do think we are seeing the Woosnam problem in terms of his lack of ease in communicating both on a one to one level and with the media. Think this one is going to run a bit.
