Travelling to the K Club for the Ryder Cup

Cars will be banned from an 8km exclusion zone around the K Club.

With over 40,000 people expected to descend on the K Club for the Ryder Cup through the tiny village of Straffan the authorities have realised there may be a small issue with parking! To help alleviate the congestion for those who intend to drive to the event, a new car park is under construction at Weston Aerodrome. Planning has been granted for a 30,000 space car park at the airfield and Bus Eireann plans to provide a shuttle service to the K Club from the Aerodrome which is about 6.5 miles – or a 15min bus journey .
For those who wish to avoid mixing with the Hoi Polloi we believe that a Helicopter service will also be available to whisk you from Weston Aerodrome to the Ryder Cup Matches.

If you are starting out from Dublin I notice that Irish Rail have put together a special Ryder Cup Package to help you get to the event from Dublin City Centre. This involves a train from Connolly station and a shuttle bus service to the K Club from the closest station at Leixlip. An inclusive day return costs €20 per person.
Tickets can be purchased here from Irish Rail. There are some terms and conditions, which can be seen here.

If you’re not sure where Straffan or the K Club are have a look at this map to help get an idea of where they are located in relation to Dublin (Which is the capital of Ireland).

  1. […] Needless to say knives guns and weapons of mass distruction are also banned! With 40,000 people a day expected I think it’s safe to say you should get there early and expect delays. Remember there is an 8km exclusion zone for cars […]
