Sky Sports have signed a deal with the European Tour to guarantee continued Ryder Cup coverage for the UK market.

The new contract will see The Ryder Cup 2010 in Celtic Manor, Wales and The Ryder Cup 2012 in Medinah Country Club, Illinois broadcast live exclusively on Sky Sports with extensive highlights on BBC Sport.

This new contract will mirror those already in place for Europe’s trophy defence at Valhalla Golf Club, Louisville, Kentucky, in 2008 .

The 4 year deal is not just about the Ryder Cup – it covers over 40 tournaments on The European Tour International Schedule and is the result of a tender process. George O’Grady, Chief Executive of The European Tour, praised the quality of the presentations during the tender process and explained that the new four year agreement with Sky Sports and BBC Sport reinforces the Tour’s strong, long-term relationship with existing broadcast partners. He also said that the quality and depth of their coverage of The European Tour International Schedule and The Ryder Cup in recent years has been truly outstanding, with technical innovations such as interactive coverage and High Definition adding considerably to the overall package.

  1. Bobby Carty says:

The EU flag as shown on SKY channel coverage is actually shown upside down!
Our flag has twelve five pointed stars and the point of each star should face directly upwards, not two points to each side of the 12 o clock position.
Perhaps someone could get the flag readjusted.
