Ryder Cup Odds

The teams are almost finalised. The US team is set and there are just four European places (2 automatic and 2 wildcard positions) to be confirmed. McGinley and Jose Maria Olazabal look set to take the 9th and 10th places in the team. So what are the Odds?

An upset at this stage that seems unlikely – to deny McGinley and Olazabal there would need to be a big upset at the BMW open – Broadhurst who is currently eight off the pace would need a top three finish, Edfors needs a top-two finish to make the team and is 11 shots behind the leader and Bjorn would have to win but is nine strokes off the pace. So it looks as if just the captains wildcard picks are undecided. One of these looks as if it may go to Clarke and Westwood is also favoured to get one. However lets be clear, Woosnam will pick the players he feels can add to the winning capabilities of the team.

So what are the betting odds at this stage? Who do the betting public favour? We had a quick look at PaddyPower.com
Europe to win 8/11

USA to win 5/4

Tie 10/1

This means that at this stage the Europeans are favourites which is amazing when you look at the depth of the US Team. Lets revisit this after the European Team is finalised and see if there is any change in sentiment…

The Odds for the Ryder Cup have changed a little now that the Teams are set and the US have arrived in Ireland for the event
Europe are still favorites but the odds have lengthened a little:

    Europe to win 5/6
    USA to win 6/5
    Tie 10/1
