Many people get very excited about the uniforms worn by the teams in the Ryder Cup so here’s a quick review of how well, or otherwise, the two teams have looked on this beautiful September morning.
The Americans are clad by Ralph Lauren and are sporting grey and white diamonds on their sweaters, both sleveless and long-sleeved. Stewart Cink was the only player not to go with the sweater, opting instead for one of those warm inner long-sleeved shirts, not unlike what rugby players like to wear. Maybe he was anticipating some ‘contact ‘ situations?
Interestingly, all of the Europeans have now discarded the bright green sweaters with which they began the day. Presumably, this was to connect with the Irish spectators but now they are getting on with it in very pale green shirts. It must be getting quite warm now in the mid-morning sunshine.
Certainly, the golf is now heating up. Jim Furyk has canned a monster putt on the 9th to put the US back in the lead. Just as well, Tiger is the worst player of the sixteen on view.
Karlsson and Casey are flying and are now 2-up after seven holes. They’re looking good to record the first point of the day.
