Ryder Cup Ticket Draw

Today (June the 5th) is the first day of registration for the Ryder Cup 2008 ticket lottery.

Anyone who wants to get a ticket must enter the lottery as there are only 40,000 available and demand will fat outstrip the supply. You can enter the lottery up to Sunday, September 30, 2007, 11 p.m. ET. The Draw will then take place in October 2007 and you will be notified in November 2007.

Happy Birthday Ryder Cup!

Today is the 80th Birthday of the Ryder Cup!

The first Ryder Cup was held on June the 4th in 1927

The US Team led by Walter Hagen beat the English Team led by Ted Ray. The venue was Worcester Country Club in Massachusetts in the US and the final score was USA 9½ – GB 2½

The English Team sailed aboard the Aquitania from Southampton to New York, a six-day journey!

If you want to go to Valhalla for the 37th Ryder Cup matches in September 2008 you will need to get your hands on one of those elusive tickets!

The tickets are sold through a ticket lottery by the PGA – so you cannot just go and buy one. The lottery will take place sometime in the fall of this year (2007) You need to register your interest (by signing up to the PGA newsletter here). Be careful where you buy your tickets (more…)
